Criteria for induction into the Hall of Fame
Inductees into FBA(SA) Hall of Fame are identified and selected by a subcommittee of the FBA(SA) Executive Committee and submitted for approval by the Executive Committee.
A family business does not need to have excelled in all the following criteria, but rather provide a model of excellence and achievement based on a number of criteria. The current expression of selection criteria is:
A South Australian family business that is recognised in its field of endeavour as a state icon and historically reflects well on South Australian society.
- Successful transition to a succeeding generation or generations, or successful establishment in the first generation with plans for formalisation and growth in the second generation
- Successful entry and activity in markets beyond the State borders, and preferably in export markets
- The establishment of a brand, product or service that is regarded as an icon within its market or sphere of activity
- A history of business activity that reflects well on South Australian society in terms of quality, value, competitive spirit and integrity
- Evidence of a significant influence on the South Australian economy in terms of employment, innovation or export
- The potential to inspire contemporary South Australians to seek and achieve greatness
- The potential to promote public and business pride in South Australia
- The potential for contemporary young family business owners to identify with the spirit of family business pioneers – for example, humble beginnings, persistence in the face of adversity, innovative thinking, courage, sensible planning and calculated risk-taking
